Carpet Cleaning

Every year I do New Year's day dinner. I have been doing it since it was clear my mother was no longer up to the task. I didn't think it was fair that my only sister among five brothers should be the only one to host a holiday gathering so I volunteered for New Year's Day and Easter, leaving her with Thanksgiving and Christmas.

So every year on New Year's Eve or a day or two before, I treat myself to the luxury of a commercial carpet cleaning. The only bad part is that it forces me to clean my house.

Oh well, I may become civilized despite myself.
