I was just looking at the list of teams for the National Association of Rocketry, some of the names are pretty ordinary, others are more fun. And the list is:

Murphy's Lawyers was pretty good, but Sudden Impulse got the biggest grin. Took me right back to G. Harry Stine's "Handbook of Model Rocketry," and the chapter on engine Impulse ratings.

BTW, I've always admired the sign for "Tombuctou" in your userpic; where the heck was that?

Timbuktu

That is the entrance sign just South of Timbuktu, Mali. The official national language there is French, hence the different spelling. And yes, it is "The" Timbuktu of song and story.

It's very neat that you've been there. The French spelling threw me; I thought the left side of the sign had to say something like "<-- Whatsitville."

I can't help but a bit disappointed that there isn't a townful of wiseguys, presumably in the middle of the outback, slugging down Foster's and saying "Oi! There's already a Timbuktu at the other end of the earth; let's call THIS place TOMbuktu!"
